Before any solar system is purchased or installed, Salphak offers a professional solar site survey service in Kenya. Our engineers visit your property, assess your energy needs, and design the right solar system for your specific situation — so you never overpay for capacity you don't need, or underbuy and end up with a system that can't power your home or business.
A solar site survey is a physical visit by one of our qualified solar engineers to your property. During the visit we measure, assess, and document everything needed to design a solar system that works perfectly for you. It takes between 1 and 3 hours depending on property size, and there is no obligation to proceed after the survey.
We analyse your current electricity usage by reviewing your KPLC bills and identifying every appliance you want to run on solar — lights, refrigerators, television, water pumps, machinery, and more. This tells us the minimum system size your property needs.
We inspect your roof structure, material, orientation, and available space. For ground-mounted systems, we evaluate the land area. We check for shading from trees, walls, or neighbouring buildings, since even partial shade can significantly reduce solar output. We identify the best angle and direction for maximum sunlight capture.
We inspect your existing wiring, distribution board, earthing system, and connection points. This determines what electrical work is required alongside the solar installation — and whether any upgrades are needed for safe operation.
We identify the best indoor location for your inverter and battery bank — considering ventilation, security, and cable run distance from the solar panels to minimise power loss.
For hybrid or grid-tied systems, we verify your current KPLC meter type and connection, confirming whether a smart meter or bidirectional meter is required.
Within 24–48 hours of the site visit, Salphak provides a written report including:
Many solar buyers in Kenya make the mistake of buying a system based on a general recommendation without accounting for their specific energy habits, roof orientation, or wiring. The result is either an undersized system or an oversized one that costs far more than necessary.
A site survey eliminates guesswork. It means your solar investment is sized correctly, installed safely, and performs as expected from day one.
We conduct solar site surveys in Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret and surrounding counties. For large commercial or agricultural projects, we travel countrywide.
The site survey is free of charge for properties within Nairobi and Kiambu. For locations outside these counties, a travel fee may apply. There is no obligation to purchase after the survey.
A standard residential site survey takes 1–2 hours. A large commercial property may take 3–4 hours.
We can provide an indicative quote over the phone, but an accurate system-specific quotation requires a site visit. We strongly recommend the site survey before any purchase to avoid costly mistakes.
Ideally have 1–3 recent KPLC electricity bills available. If possible, provide a list of the appliances you want to run on solar. Our engineer will guide you through the rest.
